Important dates for the summer 2023 trip (Class of 2025):

• April 25 at 6:00 p.m. – Current 10th-grade parents should plan to attend an informational meeting on campus. Look for details in an upcoming newsletter.

• May 19 – The forms below are due.

• Aug. 13 – Aug. 18 – Rising 11th-grade students experience Pisgah National Forest.

Each August, the incoming 11th-grade class visits Pisgah National Forest in North Carolina. In many ways, the students are taken out of their comfort zone and are exposed to new experiences: separated from their friends and family; out of an urban environment and into the woods; taking on new responsibilities. It is our intent to have students experience camping and backpacking in a positive way, especially because many of them may never experience anything like this again.  In this way, they can all look back and be proud of something that they never thought they could do, like cooking their own meals, rock climbing, or sleeping in an open-air shelter. DaySpring

During First Week, freshmen spend the day with Pathfinders, participating in group bonding activities.

Florida’s Adventures Trip

Trip:

Sixth-grade students spend three days touring local Florida sites including Disney’s Youth Education Series Program, Medieval Times and Kennedy Space Center and more.

Florida Keys

Trip:
Seventh-grade students spend four days exploring and studying wildlife in the Florida Keys. For many students, this is the first time they have spent time away from their families, traveling with peers and trusted chaperones, so it is an opportunity for growth in many ways. The Keys trip is a culmination of the Science 7 curriculum. After studying plant and animal organisms, kingdoms, species and their habitats and characteristics, students interact with these animals in their native environments. Activities include learning about and swimming with dolphins at Dolphins Plus, kayaking through the mangroves at John Pennekamp State Park, visiting the Turtle Hospital on Marathon Key, snorkeling in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary and taking an airboat ride through the Florida Everglades.

Historic Boston, MA

Parent Meeting:  October 6, at 9:00 a.m. | Trip: Nov 7-10, 2022 (Mon – Thu)

Eighth grade students spend four days touring New England, tracing the roots of the American Revolution by walking Boston’s historic Freedom Trail. Major stops include Bunker Hill, Old North Church and Paul Revere’s home. Students visit the towns of Lexington and Concord where the first battles were fought, and take time for reflection at Walden Pond where Henry David Thoreau wrote his masterpiece, Walden. In the town of Salem, students visit the Salem Witch Museum, the Salem Witch Memorial and the spooky House of the Seven Gables. On the last day of the trip, they are transported to the year 1627 and live the life of a pilgrim at Plymouth Plantation.
